Monday, Mar 11, 2024- The Mullen High School Board of Trustees, key donors, and strategic partners gathered to dedicate and preview the newly constructed academic building. The building will be home to 14 classrooms, 3 conference rooms, 3 administrative offices, shared space for students to meet and study, and a Grand Lobby named for the late Mullen Alum and treasured Denver educator, Craig Bowman ‘65. It was a momentous night for us which saw laughter, tears, applause, and goodwill. There was tangible joy in the hearts and minds of all participants, gathered to honor the people who made this New Building possible.
The night began with mingling and light fare, transitioning into speeches by Raul Cardenas, Jr., Ph.D. President & CEO of Mullen High School; Adele Willson of Hord Coplan Macht Architects; Brad Schmahl ‘98 - JHL Constructors; Br. Nick Gonzalez, FSC, Brother Visitor from the San Francisco New Orleans District; Sam Govea, Principal at Mullen High School; Kass Schwappach, Chair of Board of Trustees; and Kate Dykstra, Chief Development Officer & Chief of Staff for Mullen High School. The night was capped off with a prayer honoring the new construction, and a tour of the newest addition to the Mullen High School campus.
The building prayer went as, “Heavenly Father, you know what we do not know. You see what we do not see. We continue to hear your call to accompany the young people you entrust to our care. Protect us as we discern, plan, and construct new buildings to serve our Mullen community for many years. Holy Spirit, help us be good stewards of our finances, our land, and our people. Everything we have is yours, Lord. We trust in you. Jesus, may your light guide our way to your providence. May we accept your mission for us with zeal. May our entire Mullen community, past, present, and future, together and by association, join prayer forth important effort.”
Willson said, “On behalf of HCM, we are honored to have been part of the journey with Mullen High School to re-imagine the future campus and new Academic buildings to support the Mullen students as they enter to learn and leave to serve.”
Cardenas shared, “This is a special moment in our history as we take the time to remember and honor our past while building towards our future. This new academic building epitomizes the spirit of our founder, who placed so much emphasis on relationships. The relationships created between JHL, HCM, Anser, and most importantly our donors, have been extraordinary and created a building built on faith, trust, and care. We have been blessed.”
Our shared vision for our campus is bigger and brighter than ever and our hope for the future is more alive, tangible, and potent than before. We trust how the Lord is moving in our construction plans, on our campus, and in the lives of our faculty, students, and parents. We are incredibly grateful to announce the completion of this project and look forward to continuing to build our new future at Mullen High School.
