DENVER, CO - In a major move that will excite the Denver basketball community, Mullen High School has named Chris Crosby its new Head Boys Basketball Coach. A homegrown standout with deep roots in the city’s hoops culture, Crosby brings over 17 years of coaching experience, a blue-collar coaching philosophy, and a strong connection to the metro area.
From his high school playing days at Chatfield to earning Colorado Mr. Basketball honors in 1996, Crosby’s journey spans elite collegiate play at Washington State, a six-year professional career overseas, and respected coaching stints across Colorado, including Castle View, where he led the program to its most successful season in school history.
But for Crosby, this isn’t just a new chapter — it’s a homecoming. He previously served eight years as an assistant coach at Mullen (2007–2009, 2016–2022), helping guide the Mustangs to multiple playoff runs, including Sweet Sixteen and Final Four appearances. His return signals continuity and a renewed vision to elevate the program.
“Coach Crosby is Denver basketball,” said Melynda Brown, Mullen’s Athletic Director. “His experience, toughness, and passion for player development make him the perfect fit to lead our boys’ basketball program. He understands the grind — and he understands Mullen. We’re thrilled to welcome him home.”
During his time at Castle View, Crosby launched the school’s first boys’ feeder program and established a structured strength and conditioning system, laying a blueprint for long-term program success.
Crosby’s resume also includes:
• All-Pac-10 honors at Washington State
• Over 1,300 career points at the collegiate level
• Professional stints in Portugal, Greece, Norway, Poland, Australia, and the NBA Development League
“I’m incredibly honored to return to Mullen as head coach,” said Crosby. “This community means everything to me. My goal is to create a culture of toughness, teamwork, and accountability — and to bring pride back to Mustang basketball.”
With Crosby at the helm, Mullen High School is poised to reestablish itself as one of Colorado’s premier basketball programs, led by a coach who knows what it takes to win, both on and off the court.
